For our location in Dietikon, we are looking for a dynamic and flexible individual to manage a small team to support all aspects of sourcing and procurement during research, development, production and throughout the product lifecycle.  This individual needs to have broad knowledge of supply chain and materials planning environments, with flexibility enough to step into multiple roles and activities (both tactical and strategic), in a fast-changing OEM engineering and small manufacturing environment.

Your Main Functions:

  • Disciplinary and technical leadership of a small operational and strategic purchasing team in a “hands-on” way due to the significant and varying needs of the business and stakeholders 
  • Effectively develop, manage, and maintain relationships with suppliers
  • Work tightly with Project Managers and Engineering during development phases to identify optimal sources of supply and work with the team to execute purchase orders for components to meet project timelines, cost and quality targets
  • Support and negotiate quotes, purchase orders, agreements and terms and conditions to manage project and production goals and risks
  • Proactively work with the global strategic sourcing lead in the US to properly evaluate, qualify, select, and audit suppliers in Europe
  • Own production purchasing to meet production planning requirements and targets for quality, delivery, cost and inventory
  • Direct line reporting to the COO of the Group, based in USA, and in a matrix organization working directly in close collaboration with Project Managers, Engineers, and the Operation team in Switzerland
  • During 2023, Volpi will implement a global ERP system for both US & Switzerland sites.  Ability to learn the business and take leadership and ownership role in the implementation of the purchasing and MRP modules in Switzerland
    • Perform analysis to select and transition materials to the appropriate MRP strategy to meet customer delivery requirements
    • Set-up and maintenance of supplier and material master data to ensure proper transactional accuracy and automation wherever possible

Your Profile:

  • Dipl. Purchaser / Bachelor / MSc. of Engineering
  • Several years of purchasing experience in an international business environment with engineering, research and development projects, and manufacturing
  • Assertive but flexible personality with a confident and competent manner
  • Communicative and collaborative team player who can also work independently
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, planning and influencing skills
  • Experience with a larger Enterprise ERP system
  • Fluent in written and spoken German and English
  • Travel activity up to 10%
